President's Message
Brothers and Sisters of Hawai'i, E Komo Mai! (Join us)

It takes only one pair of hands, one heart and a single whisper to change the destiny of Hawaiians worldwide.

Prince Kuhio Kalaniana'ole formed the first Hawaiian Civic Club in 1918 to stimulate the civic efforts and education within the Hawaiian community and promote Hawaiian culture - the first of what has become a coalition of 51 distinct organizations with memberships that reach from the sands of Hawai'i to the easternmost shores of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The global migration of Hawaiians has isolated, yet solidified pockets of kamaainas yearning for Hawai'i Nei.  There is work to be done right here.

Ke Ali'i Maka'ainana Hawaiian Civic Club's mandate is clear:
1. Take an active interest in the civic, economic, health and social welfare of our community;
2. Support programs of benefit to the people of Hawaiian ancestry;
3. Provide a forum for full discussion of all matters of public interest;
4. Honor, fulfill, protect, preserve and cherish all sources, customs, rights and records of the Native Hawaiian ancient traditions, nä `oli a me nä mele, cemetery areas and the historic sites of Native Hawaiians.

This is our time to fix these goals upon the Hawaiian community who currently call Maryland, the District of Washington and the Commonwealth of Virginia, home.  It takes only one pair of hands, one heart and a single whisper to change the destiny of Hawaiians worldwide.  Let those hands, that heart, and that whisper be YOURS!
